ODFW names Port of Brookings and South Jetty and Pier, Chetco River, as south-coast marine shore access. Southwest Zone: Chetco estuary has very little bank access.
Primary hazards
Watch surge, boat traffic, and slippery rock. Crossing the Chetco bar is a boat-safety decision.
Fishery considerations
There is no live water-level station at Chetco. Crescent City (NOAA 9419750) is not the Chetco tide.
Wind and swell can make the Chetco bar and jetties unsafe even when predicted tides look usable.
